NIT Meghalaya Releases Notification for Assistant Registrar Recruitment

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya has issued an indicative vacancy notification for the post of Assistant Registrar through direct recruitment. The notification announces one unreserved position, open to Indian nationals who meet the prescribed qualifications and experience requirements under Government of India norms.

The recruitment notification, referenced NITMGH/ES/REC/N-F/Vol.IX/2025-26/1790 and dated December 22, 2025, outlines the terms and conditions for appointment to this key administrative role. NIT Meghalaya, established under an Act of Parliament, offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in engineering, technology, and sciences.

Pay Scale and Age Limit

The Assistant Registrar post is placed at Pay Level 10 under the 7th Central Pay Commission, with an entry pay of ₹56,100. The upper age limit is 35 years, with relaxations applicable for reserved categories, departmental candidates, and others as per Government of India rules.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must possess qualifications and experience as per the Recruitment Rules approved by the Ministry of Education (formerly Ministry of Human Resource Development). All academic qualifications must be obtained from institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Applicants must submit valid supporting documents, failing which applications will be rejected.

The notification refers to a key government communication dated April 4, 2019, and advises candidates to consult relevant ministry notifications for detailed recruitment rules. In case of any discrepancy, Recruitment Rules shall prevail, and amendments arising from anomaly reports may be incorporated and notified on the institute website.

Application Process and Fee

Applications must be submitted online only through the prescribed format available on the institute’s website. Hard copy or offline applications will not be accepted.

The application fee is ₹500 for general category candidates. SC, ST, PwD, and female candidates are exempted from payment, subject to submission of valid certificates.

• Mark sheets from Class X onward
• Experience certificates
• Proof of age and additional qualifications, if any

Selection Process

Selection will be based on shortlisting according to qualifications and experience, which may exceed minimum eligibility requirements. The institute reserves the right to limit the number of candidates called for tests or interviews.

Shortlisted candidates will be informed via email and/or the institute website. No TA/DA will be provided for attending selection stages. Mere fulfillment of eligibility criteria does not guarantee a call for interview.

Candidates employed in government or semi-government organizations must apply through proper channels, though advance copies are permitted, with a No Objection Certificate required at the interview stage.

The institute reserves the right to modify, cancel, or withdraw the recruitment process without assigning reasons. Any legal matters arising from this recruitment will fall under the jurisdiction of courts in Meghalaya.
