IIT Guwahati Announces Two Faculty Recruitment Drives; Applications Open Till January 31.

The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has launched two separate faculty recruitment drives for the positions of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor, with applications open until January 31, 2026.
The general recruitment drive, issued under advertisement No. IITG/2025/FA-ADVT/02 on December 24, 2025, focuses on specialised areas in select departments and schools. The Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering is seeking expertise in Neural Engineering, Organelle Biology, and Cellular Ageing. In the Department of Mechanical Engineering, positions are available for candidates specialising in Robotics and Control, Autonomous Vehicles, Battery Modeling with emphasis on Li-ion mechanics, and Biomechanics.
The drive also extends to the Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and the School of Health Sciences and Technology.
A concurrent special recruitment drive, advertised under No. IITG/2025/FA-ADVT/SPL-REC/01 on December 20, 2025, is reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer), Economically Weaker Sections, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities. This initiative covers faculty positions across all departments, ranging from Chemical Engineering to Humanities and Social Sciences.
Candidates for both drives must possess a Ph.D. with first-class marks in all preceding degrees. The entry-level Assistant Professor (Grade II) post is open to those who have completed their doctorate within the past three years.
These recruitment efforts support the institute’s objectives of strengthening the faculty-student ratio and fulfilling Ministry of Education requirements regarding representation and clearance of backlog vacancies in reserved categories.
By combining a targeted general drive with a broad special drive, IIT Guwahati aims to enhance its academic capacity while ensuring compliance with national guidelines on inclusivity.
Interested candidates may submit applications for either or both drives by January 31, 2026.
