Mizoram University Invites Guest Faculty for AI-ML MCA Programme

Mizoram University has announced a walk-in interview to appoint one Guest Faculty member for its Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme with specialisation in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, a rapidly growing area within computer science and digital technologies. The interview will be held on February 6, 2026, at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science on the university’s Tanhril campus.
The engagement will be made on a purely temporary and contractual basis to support teaching requirements in the self-financing MCA programme. The university has stated that preference will be given to candidates qualifying under UGC Guest Faculty norms, though it has reserved the right to make the appointment under Mizoram University (MZU) Guest Faculty rules if no suitable UGC-qualified applicant is available.
Candidates are required to report by 11:00 AM for verification of original documents, after which the interview will commence at 11:30 AM. No prior application or call letter is required, and selection will be based entirely on the candidate’s performance in the interview and verification of academic credentials.
Remuneration
The university has notified different payment structures depending on the category of appointment. Candidates selected as UGC Guest Faculty will receive Rs 1,500 per lecture, subject to a maximum ceiling of Rs 50,000 per month. Those appointed under the MZU Guest Faculty category will be paid Rs 1,300 per lecture, with a monthly limit of Rs 36,000.
The differentiated pay structure reflects the regulatory frameworks governing guest faculty engagement under national and university-specific guidelines.
Eligibility Conditions
For appointment under UGC Guest Faculty norms, applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Computer Applications, Computer Science or an equivalent discipline with at least 55 per cent marks (50 per cent for candidates belonging to SC/ST categories). In addition, candidates must have qualified NET, SLET or SET, or hold a PhD awarded in accordance with UGC regulations.
For appointment under MZU Guest Faculty norms, the minimum academic qualification remains the same — a Master’s degree with 55 per cent marks (50 per cent for SC/ST candidates) — however, NET, SLET, SET or PhD is not mandatory for this category.
About the Programme and Department
The MCA programme is offered under the self-financing mode and includes a focused specialisation in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, which are increasingly central to sectors such as software development, data analytics, automation, cybersecurity and digital services. The programme is designed to equip students with both theoretical foundations and practical skills relevant to emerging technology-driven industries.
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science operates under the School of Physical Sciences and receives academic and infrastructure support through DST-FIST and NBHM-DAE schemes, which aim to strengthen teaching, laboratory facilities and research capabilities in science and technology disciplines.
University officials said the guest faculty engagement is intended to ensure uninterrupted teaching and academic quality in the MCA programme, particularly in specialised areas that require updated technical expertise.
Eligible candidates from any region may appear for the interview, provided they meet the prescribed academic qualifications. Applicants must bring all original certificates, mark sheets and relevant documents for verification on the day of the interview.
The university has clarified that the selection committee retains full discretion in finalising the appointment and in deciding whether the candidate will be placed under UGC or MZU Guest Faculty norms, depending on eligibility and suitability.
