Non-Invasive Seizure Detector Project (ECE)

The MeitY-funded project aims to develop a low-power, low-latency system for non-invasive seizure detection. NIT Silchar is recruiting one Project Associate-I and one Project Associate-II for this work.

For the Project Associate-II post, candidates must hold an M.E. or M.Tech in Microelectronics and VLSI Design with a minimum CGPA of 7.0, along with at least two years of experience in chip design, tape-out, and hands-on familiarity with VLSI CAD tools installation and laboratory setup.

Desirable skills for both posts include proficiency in Linux-based environments, FPGA systems, Verilog RTL coding, FPGA implementation and basic understanding of biological parameters relevant to seizure detection.

The Project Associate-II position carries a monthly remuneration of Rs. 45,000 plus HRA and other admissible allowances. Selected candidates may also be considered for PhD registration as per institute rules.

Self-Healing CFRP Laminates Project (Mechanical)

This SERB-DST supported project focuses on developing induction-heating-based self-healing mechanisms in carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminates using disulfide bond grafted MXene.

The Project Associate-I position is open to candidates holding B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical or Polymer Engineering, Plastic Engineering, or related disciplines. Applicants must have qualified GATE, CSIR-UGC NET or an equivalent national-level examination as prescribed under DST guidelines. The upper age limit is 28 years, with relaxations as per government norms.

Preference will be given to candidates with M.Tech degrees and experience in nanomaterial synthesis, CFRP fabrication, composite materials, polymer processing, mechanical testing and fracture mechanics. The consolidated monthly emolument is Rs. 30,000, with HRA payable if hostel accommodation is not provided.

Biodegradable Super-Hydrophobic Composites Project (Mechanical)

This DST-funded project investigates automated fabrication of biodegradable, super-hydrophobic composites using banana pseudostem fibre and beeswax for sustainable packaging.

The Junior Research Fellow position requires a postgraduate degree in basic sciences or a graduate/postgraduate degree in a professional course, selected through national eligibility tests such as CSIR-UGC NET, GATE or equivalent examinations as per DST norms. The upper age limit is 35 years, with applicable relaxations. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in mechanical engineering.

The fellowship offers Rs. 37,000 per month for the first two years, rising to Rs. 42,000 per month upon upgradation to Senior Research Fellow. The work involves significant field-based research components.

Multiscale Flutter Analysis of Composites Project (Mechanical)

Funded by AR&DB-DRDO, this project will study uncertainty quantification in the flutter behaviour of composite structures at multiple scales.

The Project Associate-I post is open to candidates with B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech degrees in any engineering discipline, in line with DRDO-AR&DB guidelines. The upper age limit is 35 years as on the closing date.

Preference will be given to candidates with strong academic records and experience or interest in design, manufacturing, materials science, or simulation and testing of composite structures. GATE-qualified candidates will be given priority. The monthly fellowship is Rs. 37,000 for the first two years and Rs. 42,000 in the third year, along with HRA where applicable.

How to Apply

Applicants must download the prescribed application form from the relevant project notification, fill and sign it, and email the scanned copy along with a detailed CV and all supporting documents to the respective principal investigator. The correct email address and subject line, as specified in each notification, must be used.

Shortlisted candidates will be informed by email regarding the interview schedule and mode. Candidates currently employed must submit a no-objection certificate at the time of interview. Selected candidates will be required to execute a formal agreement at the time of joining.

Key Points

  • All positions are temporary and co-terminus with the respective projects.
  • Only the MeitY-funded ECE project offers a possibility of PhD registration.
  • Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Candidates are advised to consult the detailed notifications issued by NIT Silchar and apply to the respective project investigators before the specified deadlines.
