Tripura University to Hold First International Conference on Statistics, Data Science and Optimization

Tripura University will host its first international conference on statistics, data science and optimization from January 29 to 31, 2026, marking a major academic milestone for the Central University in the rapidly expanding fields of analytics and computational research.
The three-day event, titled “1st International Conference on Statistics, Data Science and Optimization (ICSDO-2026)”, is being organised by the Department of Statistics and will bring together scholars, researchers, postgraduate students and industry professionals from India and abroad.
The conference aims to provide a platform for presenting original research, exchanging ideas and exploring emerging developments across statistics, optimization and data science — disciplines that now underpin scientific discovery, public policy and industrial innovation.
Although the abstract submission and early registration deadlines have passed, late registration remains open at revised rates, allowing additional participants to join while seats are available.
Academic Focus
The conference will be organised around three integrated research tracks.
The statistics stream will cover probability theory, statistical inference, Bayesian methods, reliability analysis, survey methodology, actuarial science, spatial statistics and official statistics relevant to regional planning and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The optimization component will include operations research, mathematical programming, fuzzy and rough set theory, algorithmic design and engineering applications.
The data science track will focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, pattern recognition, data privacy, large language models and generative AI.
Together, the tracks reflect the growing convergence of mathematical theory, computational methods and real-world data-driven decision-making.
Participation and Registration
The conference is being held primarily in in-person mode at the Tripura University campus in Suryamaninagar, Agartala, with an online participation option available for research scholars.
Registration fees currently applicable after January 15 are:
- Postgraduate students: ₹1,500
- Research scholars (in-person): ₹3,500
- Research scholars (online): ₹2,000
- Academicians: ₹6,000
- Industry professionals: ₹10,000
- Attendees without presentation: ₹3,000
- Foreign delegates: USD 275
Participants who do not require accommodation are eligible for a 20 percent fee concession. Registered delegates will receive conference materials, meals, refreshments and access to the conference gala dinner.
Payments must be made to the designated Tripura University State Bank of India account, with “ICSDO-2026” mentioned in the transaction remarks.
Research Presentation and Publication
Abstract submissions closed on December 25, 2025, and acceptance notifications were issued by January 15, 2026. Accepted presenters are required to complete formal registration through the official portal.
The conference will also recognise academic excellence through Best Paper and Best Poster Awards for postgraduate students and young researchers.
Selected full papers, subject to peer review, will be forwarded for possible publication in a Scopus-indexed journal.
Travel and Accommodation
Limited AC 3-Tier train fare reimbursement will be provided to selected participants. Accommodation will be arranged on request in the university guest house, state guest houses or nearby hotels.
Tripura University is located about 18 km from Maharaja Bir Bikram International Airport and 5.5 km from Agartala Railway Station, making the campus accessible for out-station delegates.
About the Host Institution
Tripura University was established in 1987 and became a Central University in 2007. It now comprises 45 academic departments with more than 200 faculty members, offering undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes across disciplines.
The Department of Statistics, founded in 2011, runs postgraduate and PhD programmes with a focus on statistical theory, applied statistics and data science, while actively promoting interdisciplinary research.
The conference is expected to strengthen academic collaboration and enhance research visibility in the North East, particularly in areas where statistics, optimization and data science intersect with development and technology.
